What is Price Points?

Price Points is a research newsletter dedicated to visualizing and understanding the U.S. healthcare system. Every few weeks, I’ll publish novel, quantitative research using hospital price transparency data, TiC negotiated rates, and other healthcare data to look at system-wide trends in U.S. healthcare pricing. The methods, data, and code for each post are fully public and available on GitHub.

How often do you publish?

Roughly every 2-3 weeks, with some shorter posts occasionally interspersed.

Who’s writing this?

I’m Dan Snow, a researcher and data scientist at Turquoise Health.

Before Turquoise, I was the Director of Data Science at the Cook County Assessor’s Office, where I helped estimate the home values used to determine Cook County property taxes. And before that, I was a grad student at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, where I researched healthcare and spatial accessibility.

Do I need a paid subscription?
